On November 8, medical imaging professionals from across the world will celebrate the 12th International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2024). This day is dedicated to recognizing and promoting the key role that radiology plays in a patient's journey. We invite all radiologists, radiographers, and radiology technologists to join the celebrations and share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #IDoR2024.
This day also provides an opportunity to reflect on the impact of radiology on medicine - earlier detection, fewer surgeries, and revolutionary treatment outcomes. It's not only an opportunity to promote these benefits among our healthcare colleagues and the general public but also to reflect on them as radiologists ourselves.
November 8, the day when Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered the existence of X-rays in 1895, is therefore a day of action and awareness.
The International Day of Radiology is an annual event aimed at raising awareness about the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving understanding of the crucial role played by radiologists and radiologic technologists in continuous healthcare.
The day is a joint initiative by The European Society of Radiology (ESR), The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and The American College of Radiology (ACR). More information about this event can be found at www.internationaldayofradiology.com.
